AIM AND OBJECTIVES:
PEN dreams of a God loving community, living in the city, caring for one another by sharing wisdom, values and resources. Therefore, at Pennies we aim at affordable, high quality Christian based education, focussing on the needs of the inner-city child.
QUALITY EDUCATION:
We see Pennies as a stimulating, child- and worker- friendly environment, where a well-planned daily program is aimed at life enrichment and development of life skills in all areas. In educational terms this means that they are taught by qualified teachers, in relatively small classes where they receive individual attention.
In addition to the educational program occupational therapists, social workers as well as an educational psychologist is involved at the school. A toy library has been developed providing a wide variety of educational and recreational toys and books to children to take home on a weekly basis, a further benefit towards the children’s development.
As part of the daily program children receive two meals per day, as well as two snacks.

AFFORDABILITY:
Fundraising is done in order to provide the above-mentioned QUALITY CARE. DIFFERENT CONGREGATION, Christian groups or individuals are involved in sponsoring Pennies in a wide variety of ways. Once-off donations are used for specific projects or needs, and people also get involved by donating time and effort in doing things such as maintenance, baking birthday cakes, sponsoring educational outings, etc. Contributions received by monthly debit orders provide bursaries for needy children. Applications for bursaries are carefully monitored by social workers.
